Signature Cocktail: Tangerine Tango

Tangerine Tango

serving: 1 single drink

Ingredients

10-15 mint leaves, plus a sprig for garnish

1 oz. ginger simple syrup (see below)

One tangerine

2 oz. light/white rum

Club soda

Directions

Muddle the mint leaves and syrup for about 20-30 seconds,  crushing them to release the mint .

Cut a thin slice from the tangerine and reserve for garnish; then cut the rest into quarters and squeeze juice into the glass.

Add rum, stir, then fill glass with ice.

Top off with club soda and garnish with a tangerine slice and spring of mint.

Recipe Ginger Simple Syrup

1 cup water

1 cup sugar

3″ or so fresh ginger

Peel the ginger and slice it thinly; place in a small saucepan, add water and sugar, and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes.

Remove from heat and let cool, leaving ginger pieces in to steep; once cooled, strain into a container (can be stored a few weeks in the fridge).
